The Uttar Pradesh MLC Member of the Legislative Council consists of a total of 100 members. The tenure of an MLC is 6 years. But the term of one-third of the members in MLC expires after every two years. One-third of these members are elected by the MLAs and one-third of members are elected through the members of the District Board, and Municipal Corporation. Apart from this, 1/12 members are selected by teachers, and 1/12 members are selected by registered graduate citizens. Apart from this, other members are elected through the Governor.
